Solid value for filing

This was my first time using TaxAct. I was looking for something more affordable than what I'd used before, and I saw a free federal edition offer. I ended up upgrading to TaxAct Premier because I needed to file a state return and had some rental property income. The price difference was reasonable. I felt like I got good value for what I paid, especially compared to other services that charge a lot more for similar features. The whole process was clear enough, and I managed to complete everything without needing to contact support. It saved me a good chunk of money.

Got my taxes done

So I used TaxAct Deluxe to do my taxes this year. It wasn't too bad. I just had a W-2 and some student loan interest. It walked me through all the questions. Didn't have any trouble linking my bank for the refund. It definitely felt easier than trying to do it by hand, that's for sure. I finished it up in an evening, then just hit submit. Got my refund email a few days later. Pretty standard stuff, it worked.

Quick and efficient

Used TaxAct Premier for my federal and state filings. The process was straightforward. Entered my W-2s and investment income. E-filed both returns successfully. No issues or delays. It worked as expected.

Good for self-employed taxes

I used TaxAct Self-Employed this past tax season. The process of entering income and expenses was pretty straightforward, and it handled my 1099-NEC forms without a hitch. I had a quick question about depreciation, and I used the Xpert Assist feature. I got a call back within a few hours, and the tax professional was helpful, clarifying what I could and couldn't deduct. They seemed knowledgeable. Filing my federal and state returns was smooth after that, and the e-file confirmation came through quickly. The interface felt a little dated compared to some other software I've used, but it was functional and got the job done for my small business. The final cost was reasonable for the features provided.

Reliable choice for taxes

I've been using TaxAct for my taxes for about three years now, usually the TaxAct Deluxe package. This year, I had some investment income to report, and the software guided me through it just like previous years. It imported my W-2s fine. I appreciate that the experience is consistent; I know what to expect. Every time, I've had my federal and state returns filed successfully, and I've always gotten my refunds on time. It's a reliable platform, which is why I keep coming back. No surprises, which is what you want for taxes.

So easy to file!

I absolutely loved using TaxAct this year! I tried the TaxAct Free Confidence option for my simple return, and it was unbelievably simple. The step-by-step guidance made everything so clear, even for someone like me who gets confused with tax forms. I was able to file both federal and state returns quickly, and I felt confident it was done right. I'm definitely using it again next year and telling my friends about it!

Hey guys, thinking of switching to TaxAct this year. Is it really comparable to TurboTax for someone with a pretty basic W2 + some stock stuff? Or is it gonna be a nightmare?

A Andre 2 months ago
Yeah, for W2 and basic investments it's totally fine. I used it last year after years of TT and it was pretty much the same experience, just cheaper.

i think it's good enough. I had some rental property income and it handled that fine. If you have super complicated biz stuff maybe not, but for W2 + stocks you should be golden.

Does TaxAct offer a refund advance thing? I'm kinda broke and need that money ASAP if possible lol.

D Daisy 2 months ago
Yes, they do! I saw an option for a refund advance when I was filing last season.

Yep, they have a refund advance option. It's usually a loan based on your expected refund, so you get some money fast. Check the details though for fees or interest, afaik it's usually free but good to double check.
